Samaritans is a helpline service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Around 800 volunteers work in our nine Welsh branches, and respond to calls via telephone, e-mail, text and in person – at our branches or at events across Wales.

We also work with the media to inform the public and explain how we can help people find their own way forward.

We reach out to groups where there is a high risk of suicide. We work in partnership with other agencies to achieve change locally, and inform policy decisions that have an impact on suicide risk.

The office of the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales (PSOW) was established in April and the current Ombudsman, Michelle Morris has been in post since April 2022.

The role of the PSOW is to:

• Look into complaints that something has gone wrong with Welsh public services.
• Look into complaints that Welsh councillors have breached their Code of Conduct.
• Work with public bodies to improve public services and standards of conduct within local government across Wales.

Royal Voluntary Service mobilises volunteers to support the NHS and people in need, in order to build resilience in local communities. Our volunteers work with healthcare teams and in communities, providing practical help and emotional support when people are struggling.

As one of Britain’s largest volunteering organisations, we provide vital services that support public health, social care and wellbeing. The support we provide (from bringing people home from hospital to running home libraries and providing companionship support) promotes better health, social interaction and connection, relieving pressure on the NHS and the Care System.
